The Last Tree Theatre Project was birthed in February 2025 in a small town on the Kenyan coast. The dream being that one day shows about trees would be all over the world.
It began as ‘The Last Baobab Tree’ and was developed over three weeks in Kilifi town, premiering on the 21st of March beneath the branches of a magnificent Fig Tree. With influences of clown, puppetry, song, and dance, the story follows three explorers on the hunt for the last tree. It aims to inspire hope, laughter, and ultimately, environmental action in its audiences.
Following a successful first show with an audience of 100, the show won the prestigious ‘Keep it Fringe fund’ and is now being reimagined as The Last Oak Tree for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2025. We are in conversations about linking the show to reforestation projects and hope to tour around both the UK and Kenya in 2026/2027.
